When does the switch get flipped? The one that says we can no longer dabble in flights of fancy, paint with our fingers, just express whatever is in our head. At some point, all of the sudden, we have to have a purpose. We have to have a plan. We have to be adults ::shudder::.
What we really need is to re-embrace our childhood curiosity and complete disregard for whether that drawing looks like a monkey or not. We just need to create. Spill our imagination upon the canvas, whatever that canvas may be. As Picasso said:
It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.
Telmo Pieper revisited his childhood for artistic inspiration quite literally. This series is a collection of, in his own words, “digital painted Creatures and stuff based on my own childhood drawings. I designed these creatures at the age of 4 and now reincarnated them with digital painting.”
