I’m a 21 year old dutch photographer, but living in France for a long while now. I’m living in Montpellier and currently studying Spatial Planning in Montpellier (South of France).
Hard to tell what kind of artist I am, but I see myself doing what I love and working with amazing people!
Where are you from and what kind of upbringing did you have? Did this have any effect on how you evolved as an artist?
As I said before, I’m from the Netherlands but living in France since I was 4 years old. I don’t think this had an effect on me being a photographer, but I do know that being raised in the countryside made me disciver lots of very special places where I now shoot my pictures.
How did you learn to take professional photos? Did you go to school for photography or are you self-taught?
I’m self-taught, I started years ago with flowers and happy faces! But I still have a lot to learn, definitely how you can make a small idea grow in an interssting series of images.
Nudity is very significant in your work. Please talk about that. Why do you shoot nude models and why is it important to you?
Another hard question to answer! First of all, I’m very touched by nudity, it’s a very intimate side of a person. My vision of feminine intimacy is what I try to show through my images, with those special emotions and feelings which can make people uncomfortable. Some of them are very soft and loving, others are more brutal and harsh. Also, I work on the mixing of nudity with nature like a sort of « going back to where we came from » feeling.
What’s your dream? Specifically, what do you want to accomplish artistically? Is this just a hobby for you, or something more?
I have many dreams :) But artistically, I hope one day to be able to mix the esthetics of an image with the same amount of concept and idea. All that in one same series of images!
If money were not an issue, what would your first dream photography project be?
I would travel with my favorite models, I’d love to shoot in some cold and wide landscapes like the Finnish Lakeland, Iceland or Canada. As well, I’d go shoot Auroras above the arctic circle :)
Your work is so inspiring! Can you give advice to our young viewers? What has been the secret to your success so far? What should we be concentrating on as artists to more forward and create work that we love?
I wouldn’t consider myself as succesful or anything else, but I know for sure that showing your work is a far better solution than hiding it. I don’t think there is secret… only do what you love the most and do not to stop at the first little strike.
